As the only one of the six church buildings in the medieval twin city of Berlin-Cölln, St. Mary’s Church survived the bombing of the Second World War without any significant destruction. This makes it not only the best-preserved Gothic sacred space in the center of Berlin. Its huge roof structure is also largely preserved in its original late medieval condition – unlike the nearby St. Nicholas Church.
